
Hearty and homely Finnish soup with small siskonmakkara sausages, potatoes, and root vegetables — a beloved childhood favourite across Finland.

Peel and dice potatoes, carrots, and turnip into 2 cm cubes
Dice the onion and place all vegetables in a large pot with beef stock
Add allspice berries and bay leaves, bring to a boil
Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes
Slice sausages into 2 cm pieces and add to the pot
Continue simmering for 15 minutes until vegetables are tender
Remove bay leaves and allspice, season with salt and pepper
Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley and rye bread on the side

Refrigerate up to 4 days. Freezes well for 3 months. The potatoes may become slightly soft upon thawing but the flavor holds up beautifully.
